Who We Are

Toad Town Services is a one-person technology services business serving Rhinelander and Oneida County, WI. I'm Nick, the owner and the person who shows up at your door.

Background

My career has taken a lot of turns, and most of them involved figuring out how things work and fixing them when they don't.

I spent two years as Director of Operations and Technology at WXPR Public Radio, where I managed broadcast equipment, migrated the station's network infrastructure, and held FCC Chief Operator responsibility. I'm a Society of Broadcast Engineers Certified Radio Operator and hold a broadcast engineering certificate from the Cleveland Institute of Electronics.

Before and after that, I worked in IT and data analytics — building reporting systems for healthcare organizations, managing networks and compliance, deploying and supporting business technology. I've also done hands-on work across manufacturing, marine repair, broadband installation, and construction.

I have a BA in Music and Management Studies from St. Olaf College, where I spent four years as a recording engineer for the college's concert series.

Why Toad Town Services

There's no shortage of tech support options, but most are either big-box impersonal or narrowly specialized. I started Toad Town Services because I kept running into people — neighbors, community members, small organizations — who needed someone who could actually sit down with them, understand their situation, and solve the problem in front of them rather than hand it off or upsell them.

I currently volunteer with my church's audio and streaming setup, WXPR's music library and am working through my own home renovation projects. That's not filler — it means I'm actively working on the same kinds of problems my clients bring to me.
